It serves as a teaching and training facility for the Medical Faculty and Faculty of Health Sciences of University of Maribor, and as a postgraduate teaching and training facility for trainees in all medical subspecialties. The hospital places a great emphasis on scientific research, publicity and pedagogical work.
Department of Oncology
Department of Oncology has been operating at our hospital since 2016. It consists of 3 units: Radiotherapy Unit, Internal Oncology Unit and Palliative Care Unit. Additionally, in the fall of 2021, we actively started involving the mobile palliative team (MPT) in our everyday work. The Department of Oncology is recognized as an exemplary research centre and participates in many international studies. We would like all three units to continue to expand their activities and maintain a high professional level of treatment of cancer patients, as was set when the department had been established, and certainly to continue with research activities. For this purpose, we are also in the process of expanding the department (upgrading the existing building and additional construction of a new building).
